Liverpool have been linked with the 18-year-old starlet.

Steve Nicol has told ESPN that Liverpool have “absolutely zero chance” of signing Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Christian Pulisic in January.

The Mail reported this week that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will try to bring the 18-year-old to Anfield this winter, having previously tried to sign him in the summer.

ESPN reported back in August that Klopp – who spent eight years as Dortmund boss until 2015 – submitted an £11 million bid for the American teenager.

If true, it certainly seems as if the Reds manager could try again in the new year, but Nicol, who spent 13 years at Liverpool until 1994, is adamant that a switch will not materialise unless the Premier League side offer “crazy money”.

“This has got absolutely zero chance of happening,” he emphatically told ESPN. “10% [chance] is far too much. Let’s go one percent.

“Listen, this doesn’t really fit what Liverpool do. Why would Dortmund let this guy go for anything other than a crazy offer? It’s not happening, and certainly not happening with Liverpool.”

Pulisic would certainly find it hard to turn down a move to Liverpool at the moment.

Klopp’s side sit top of the Premier League at the moment and, with no European football to distract them, few would back against the German manager ending the club’s 27-year wait for a top-flight league crown.

The red half of Merseyside is an exciting place, and many players would love to be involved with what seems a very exciting project.
