Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale earned praise from Steve Nicol after the Gunners’ draw at Liverpool.

Nicol told Highbury Squad that the 24-year-old is “world-class” and could play for any team in the world.

Ramsdale delivered an impressive display as the Gunners played out a disappointing 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Arsenal were seemingly cruising towards victory as they netted twice in the opening 30 minutes.

However, the Reds pegged them back to 2-2, but they could’ve won were it not for Ramsdale.

The £30million man made numerous outstanding saves to deny the likes of Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate.

That display prompted Nicol to say Ramsdale, alongside Bukayo Saka, could play for any team on the planet.

“The one in the top corner is absolutely spectacular,” the Liverpool legend told Highbury Squad.

“The one he saves from Konate doesn’t look as spectacular, but the mentality to just never give up on anything is what makes the save. That’s the mentality of the player.

“That was a complete lost cause. And he turned round and actually got the point from a lost cause for his team. Ramsdale’s been great though.

“There’s a reason why you’re top of the league, because you’ve got good players. You’ve got people in positions that are actually world-class.

“Ramsdale could play in goal for any team on the planet, no danger, just as Saka could play for any team on the planet.”

Our view

Some very kind words from Nicol about Ramsdale, who has worked wonders at Arsenal since joining.

It’s hard to fathom that, at the time, sections of the fanbase were angry about the signing.

Ramsdale didn’t need long to dethrone Bernd Leno as No. 1 and is now a worthy first-choice at Arsenal.

His efforts have helped the Gunners mount such a serious title challenge and hopefully they can get over the line.
