Southampton are in Israel ahead of their Europa League group-stage game
Steve Nicol has told ESPN that he expects Southampton to maintain their form by beating Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Europa League tonight.
Claude Puel’s side make the trip to Israel this evening for a trick Group K clash in Europe’s secondary competition.
Southampton beat Sparta Prague in their Group opener but this should, in theory, represent a bigger test, given its location and Hapoel as a team, who beat Celtic in Champions League qualifying.
The Saints go into the contest on the back of a morale-boosting 3-0 win away to West Ham United, with Dusan Tadic posting a fine performance on Sunday.
Nicol says the Serbian playmaker is simply “unstoppable” at the moment and believes he will inspire Southampton to the three points.
He told ESPN: “I don’t see how you can’t go with Southampton. They’re in fantastic form recently and Tadic really is unstoppable at the moment.
“No question [of a] Southampton victory.”
Southampton fans will know that Tadic’s primary problem has been consistency since arriving in England over two years ago now.
The 27-year-old is certainly capable, as he’s proven at times over the past two seasons, but it is whether he can do it on a regular basis which will determine how effective he can be for the South-Coast side this season.
