Everton are reportedly chasing the Manchester United duo in January.
Speaking to ESPN, former Liverpool man Steve Nicol has offered his thoughts on whether Everton should sign Manchester United pair Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin.
The Blues have been linked with both United players in recent weeks, with moves anticipated in the January transfer window.
Indeed, according to reports, the club held talks with the Red Devils on Sunday about the possibility of bringing both players to Goodison Park.
Manchester United’s Morgan Schneiderlin
For some, Schneiderlin could be the long-term replacement for Gareth Barry, with the veteran very much coming towards the end of his career.
When asked whether he would be a good fit at Everton, the former Liverpool man told ESPN:
“100%. I’m actually surprised he’s had a torrid time at Manchester United.”
“Before he went there he was one of the best midfielders in the country but it hasn’t worked out. It would be fantastic for Everton, Gareth Barry is at the end of his career [so] this makes a whole lot of sense.”

Nicol is, however, less convinced about the potential of Depay making the move to Merseyside.
The Dutchman arrived in England with a big reputation after starring for PSV Eindhoven and helping them to the title.
He has failed to adapt, though, with just seven goals in 52 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils so far.
And for Nicol, Everton signing him makes no sense, as they already have players who are better than him at the club.
“This guy has done nothing to encourage anyone to come and take him away,” he added.
“I know Koeman is Dutch but that’s about it. They already have Mirallas, Lennon, Deulofeu, they’re not setting the heather on fire but compared to Depay these three are world-beaters. This makes no sense to me.”
