Liverpool may be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Pundit Steve Nicol has told ESPN that he thinks Liverpool must sign a new goalkeeper this summer – and would like to see Roma’s Alisson or AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma arrive in a big-money deal.
The Reds have made considerable progress under Jurgen Klopp, and will be in the Champions League again next season, with considerable hopes for a Premier League title challenge next term.
With Virgil van Dijk settling in well and RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita set to arrive this summer, Liverpool look to be strong for next season – but more additions may still be needed.

Another central midfielder or centre back may be targeted, but if manager Klopp needs to strengthen one position, then it must be finding a new goalkeeper.
Simon Mignolet has been little more than a placeholder in recent times, and whilst Loris Karius has fared well of late, a clear first-choice stopper with proven quality would be ideal.
Liverpool are being linked with a host of goalkeepers, and former Reds ace and current pundit Steve Nicol has offered his view on the club’s situation to ESPN, backing moves for two stoppers.

Nicol wants to see Liverpool make big-money moves for Roma’s Alisson or AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, as they could hold down the position for 10 years, whilst he also feels that Mignolet may look to earn a move off the back of the World Cup.
“To be honest I think Liverpool should go and see if they can either get a No 1 or have somebody who’s on a level with Karius,” said Nicol. “Mignolet isn’t, he’s clearly the No 2 and I think what Mignolet’s doing is waiting to see if he can get a game in the World Cup. Courtois has had a couple of injury nicks recently and a good World Cup would mean Mignolet is in the shop window and he could get himself a good move. Liverpool’s problems were always the defensive unit and by that, more importantly, the centre-back position and the goalkeeper.”
“They’ve certainly made a difference signing (Virgil) Van Dijk in the centre-back position. Karius, as good as the last couple of months he has had, are we really 100 per cent relying on him? I’m not ready for that yet. That means Liverpool, in my opinion, have to go out and get a recognised No 1. I would have no problem with him (Alisson), I would have no problem if they can get the likes of Donnarumma who would be a goalkeeper for the next decade. But I think definitely it’s a priority now for Liverpool. It is a weak spot, again as good as Karius has been recently, he’s not the finished article by a long way,” he added.
