The Tottenham Hotspur striker has been out since September.

Harry Kane celebrates scoring the third goal for Tottenham

Steve McManaman has told BT Sport that he expects Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to start firing on all cylinders when he is fit again, noting that his absence will “help” him.

The 23-year-old hitman, who has two goals in five Premier League games this season, has been absent since the middle of September with an ankle injury.

Prior to his setback, Kane, who endured a very disappointing Euro 2016 with England on a personal note, struggled to find the net regularly for Tottenham this season.

He could be back in contention for a first-team spot in some two weeks, however, and McManaman told BT Sport that the striker – who netted over 60 times in the past two seasons – could well come back a stronger player as a result of his absence from the game.

“I think the break will help Harry Kane,” McManaman told BT Sport.

“He had a hard summer with England. He has come back and gone right back in the side.

“Hopefully this break through injury will give him a lift when he gets back in a Tottenham shirt and he can start scoring goals.”

For a while it did not look as if Tottenham were struggling, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side have drawn their last three games, scoring once in 270 minutes of football.

Since the October international break it has become apparent that Spurs could do their marksman back as soon as possible, and fans will hope and pray that he is able to get back to his talismanic best.
