Steve McManaman has told BT Sport, during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Manchester City, that Mousa Dembele and Danny Rose were too slow in possession.

Tottenham were humbled by City yesterday, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side fell to a 4-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

Spurs simply could not get near the league leaders, and were punished for not being at their best.

Dembele and Rose, in particular, struggled to make an impact on the contest.

And McManaman said: “He’s too slow, Dembele. Some of the Tottenham players are just a bit off it. Rose has been caught out on a couple of occasions too.”

City took the lead early on through Ilkay Gundagon, and they never looked back after that.

Pep Guardiola’s side dispatched with Spurs with ease, to continue to their 16 match winning streak.

Tottenham’s display in the contest has raised alarm bells, as they looked so far behind City throughout.

Spurs are now in seventh place in the Premier League table, and will have to improve if they are to climb back into the top four.
