Sheffield Wednesday are on the lookout for a new manager.
Steve McClaren has been linked with the Sheffield Wednesday managerial job, with the former Newcastle United and England head coach currently unattached.
According to a recent report in The Star, Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri has held talks with McClaren.
The former Manchester United assistant manager recently left his advisory role at Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Wednesday are on the lookout for a new manager following the departure of Carlos Carvalhal on Christmas Eve.
McClaren seems to have suggested that he is open to the possibility of taking charge of the Owls, who are playing in the Championship at the moment.
The 56-year-old said on the Sky Sports Daily show on Sky Sports Main Event on Tuesday morning (11:56am, January 2, 2018) when asked about any interest in the Wednesday managerial role: “I want to manage again.
“I am motivated to do that, especially after five months in Tel Aviv. I want to come back and manage, either here or abroad.”
Wednesday are struggling at the moment and are in real danger of missing out on a spot in the Championship playoffs.
The Owls are currently as low as 16th in the league table, having managed to pick up just 30 points from 26 matches.
Wednesday are just six points above the relegation zone and 13 behind sixth-placed Leeds United.
McClaren is a well-travelled manager who has been in charge of clubs such as FC Twente, VfL Wolfsburg, Derby County and Nottingham Forest.
