Derby County’s Darren Bent scores his sides second goal against Wolves
Derby County boss Steve McClaren has, in an interview with the club’s official website, expressed his delight at the fact that veteran striker Darren Bent is back to his goalscoring best for the Rams this season.
32-year-old Bent has made his way into the starting lineup for Derby after spending the first few months of the season on the bench.
As a result of this playing time, the former England man has now scored in both of the Rams’ last games, netting in the 3-2 away victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers before scoring again at the weekend when Derby hosted Rotherham United.
McClaren has been vocal this week in his delight at the fact that Bent is now repaying his faith with performances on the pitch.
Speaking to the official Derby website, McClaren said: “It was the Darren Bent of old scoring that goal.
“I thought he could have slipped Tom Ince in second beforehand, but he took it on himself and it was a typical goal for him really.
“I think the goal at Wolves did him the world of good; that’s strikers for you.”
Both McClaren and Bent himself will be hoping that the run of scoring continues into the next few weeks as Derby host Norwich City next Saturday before travelling to Wigan Athletic.

One wouldn’t bet against Bent having the final say in either of those games; a seasoned Premier League striker and still only 32 years of age, the striker now has a chance to fire Derby up the table as they continue their seemingly perpetual attempt to get back into the top flight.
The Rams currently sit 12th in the Championship table.
