Everton have been linked with a move for Cenk Tosun of Besiktas in the January transfer window.

Manager Sam Allardyce has told Sky Sports that the Toffees are trying to sign the 26-year-old forward, who is himself reported by The Daily Mail to be confident of sealing a switch to Goodison Park this month.

According to The Daily Mail, Everton believed that they were on the verge of signing Tosun for £25 million, but Besiktas now want £27m as transfer fee in order to part company with the Turkey international forward.

Tosun has scored eight goals and provided one assist in 12 league appearances for Besiktas so far this season, according to WhoScored.

In six Champions League appearances this campaign, the forward scored four goals and provided two assists, according to WhoScored.

Former Newcastle United and England national football team head coach Steve McClaren has given his take on Tosun’s potential move from Turkish giants Besiktas to Premier League club Everton in the January transfer window.

McClaren said on the Transfer Centre show on Sky Sports Main Event on Tuesday morning (11:10am, January 2, 2018) about Tosun: “A striker from Besiktas, Turkey. I think, personally, I think unless they know the player, unless they know the background, he fits in and matches to Everton and Sam Allardyce’s style, I think is an unknown.”
