Steve McClaren likened Luke Freeman to a ‘bottle of pop’ after his Queens Park Rangers side recorded a 1-0 win over Leeds United in the Championship on Tuesday night.

Freeman scored the only goal of the match following the restart, with the opposition looking lacklustre and poor in possession throughout the match.

Prior to the game, the R’s were on a seven-game losing streak, but that was ended once automatic hopefuls, Leeds paid a visit to Loftus Road.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who are currently sitting third in the Championship table, had a chance to move into second place with a point and leapfrog leaders Norwich with three points.

Nonetheless, here is McClaren offering his thoughts on Freeman after the match, as posted on the club’s official Twitter account.

Leeds are the ones who are known for their high, aggressive and energetic pressing, but it was McClaren’s side that produced those tactics in the capital.

After a poor first half, they didn’t allow Leeds to settle, who were poor themselves in moving the ball and playing at their natural best.

That win moves QPR into 17th place where they are 12 points ahead of the relegation zone, but they are only five points behind Preston North End in 10th position.

On Friday night, Bielsa and his team will prepare for the visit of fourth-placed West Brom, while QPR travel to London rivals, Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
