Derby County have begun their Championship campaign poorly with just one win from their opening six league games.

Former Derby County manager Steve McClaren has explained how he is worried about his former side this season, when speaking live on Sky Sports HQ’s programme Sky Sports Now at 11:55am.
The Rams lost 2-0 to another of McClaren’s former clubs Newcastle United on Saturday – a result that leaves them languishing in 19th place in the Championship table.

The former England manager offered his opinion on Derby this season, when speaking to Sky Sports Now, claiming that a change in playing style could be behind their struggles:
“I worry about Derby, they are trying to change the style of football since Nigel has come in, going more 4-4-2 and more direct, and I think that will take time to adapt for the players and everybody else at the club.”
The comments seem to be rich coming from McClaren, who failed to achieve his remit of promotion to the Premier League during his two season’s spent at the iPro Stadium.

It is still early days in the Championship season, and despite their poor start, one thing that Nigel Pearson will most certainly not tolerate amongst his side is a lack of effort and fighting spirit, so if they continue to battle and work for each other, there is no reason why Derby cannot feature in the promotion picture come the end of the season.
