Speaking to Sky Sports, former Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren has backed the Magpies to dominate the Championship this season.
Rafa Benitez’s side have been strongly backed to make an instant return to the Premier League this year, especially after the work they have done in the summer transfer window.
They have not had a perfect start to life in the division though, losing their first two games to Fulham and Huddersfield Town respectively.

They have started to find their feet in the last two games with wins over Reading and Bristol City, and McClaren has backed them to dominate once they find the right blend and balance in their team.
“I think as expected with all the changes that’s bound to have an effect,” he told Sky Sports.
“When you go into that Championship it’s about finding your team and the right blend and balance. Once Newcastle find that I think they will go on to dominate the league.”

Rafa Benitez certainly has some work to do deciding upon his first choice eleven for this season.
He has been busy in the summer transfer window and as a result has options all over the pitch as a result.
It means there is fierce competition for places in nearly every position, leaving him with something of a selection headache, albeit one he is happy to have.
