After a slow start, Liverpool midfielder Fabinho is now arguably the best defensive-minded midfielder in the Premier League, at this moment in time.
Sky Sports pundit Steve McClaren has admitted that he has changed his mind about Liverpool midfielder Fabinho after he previously had doubts about the player.
Liverpool secured the services of Fabinho last summer when the club paid Ligue 1 side Monaco £44 million for his services, as reported by Sky Sports.
After a slow start to life at Anfield, Fabinho has started to grow and grow during these past 12 months, and he is now an important figure in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.
Speaking to Match Centre on Sky Sports News (15/10/2019 at 11:15 am), former England boss McClaren praised Fabinho for proving his worth in the middle of the park.
“For me, Fabinho and Wijnaldum, I had Gini at Newcastle, brought him over from Holland and he’s just going to a different level,” McClaren told Sky Sports.
“Also, Fabinho, I was a little doubtful when he first came, but I have got to say that he has grown and grown into the stature. We were just talking about Rice and Winks in trying to find an answer for England. He has certainly been the answer for Liverpool.”
Liverpool have won every Premier League game so far this season as Klopp’s side sit top of the table heading into their clash against Manchester United on Sunday.
Tha gap between the two clubs is huge and Liverpool will be expected to walk away with three points, but given that it is being played at Old Trafford, the game could prove to be more difficult than many might think.
But if Liverpool’s forward line of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah turn up then United will struggle given the problems they have endured this season.
