Darnell Furlong will be missed by Queens Park Rangers as the defender faces a spell on the sidelines.

Queens Park Rangers boss Steve McClaren has been dealt a blow before the season has started after it emerged that Darnell Furlong will be ruled out for three months.
The 22-year-old suffered a torn knee ligament during Saturday’s 1-0 friendly win over AFC Wimbledon and McClaren has conceded that he is gutted for the defender.
“This is a massive blow to Darnell, personally and for the team. He has looked great throughout pre-season and we are all gutted for him,” the 57-year-old told QPR’s official page.
“However, I know the sort of personality Darnell is and he will be doing everything in his power to come back fitter and stronger than ever.”
The news leaves QPR looking desperately light on numbers at the back and McClaren will need to act sooner rather than later as the opening weekend approaches.

Furlong became an integral part of the R’s defence last season and much was expected of the right-back this term but McClaren will need to look for cover – be it on loan or permanent deals – to plug the gap for the start of the season at least.
German centre-back Toni Leistner is the only new addition to Rangers this summer and fans will be fearing the worse if at least two new defenders are not drafted in to complement the free signing from Union Berlin.
