Steve Lomas says QPR are two to three years away from being promoted to the Premier League.
Former Queens Park Rangers player, Steve Lomas, said the Rangers could struggle in the 2017/18 Championship campaign.
Lomas, who played for QPR during 2005-07, said QPR need a long-term plan to move forward, and should bring in players who can take them to the Premier League.
However, the 43-year-old added that QPR are at least two or three years away from being promoted to the Premier League again.

The Hoops finished 18th in the Championship last season under Ian Holloway, but Lomas feels that the club should stick with the manager for a while and give him chance to build the team.
There has not been enough activity in the summer transfer window for QPR, with the London club signing only two players so far – Josh Scowen and Charlie Owens – both joining the club on free transfers.
Lomas pointed out that the forward department is the biggest weak link for QPR, and wondered if the club will get enough goals in the coming season.
“I think QPR are at least two or three years away from being promoted to the Premier League again. I look at the squad and I wonder if they will get enough goals,” said Lomas in an interview with Bwin.
“They’ve got Smith, Washington and Mackie, but I don’t know if they have enough goals beyond those three to secure a place in the play-offs. I can see it being another tough season for QPR and their fans.
“The club needs a long-term plan to move them forward, with small steps over a period of time rather than a new manager coming in and just signing players for the next 12 months.
“I do feel that the club is going to move forward with a long-term plan. With the money now, they can compete to sign the level of players that is going to get them to the Premier League, regardless of who is in charge.”
