Swansea City survived the Premier League for another season and speculation has mounted with interest in star player Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Swansea City rounded off their Premier League rescue mission with a 2-1 final day victory over West Brom, completing a fine run of form that saw them win four games and draw one of their final five.
The Swans could have been surefire relegation candidates were it not for the brilliant performances and contributions of Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson, who have been the saviours time and time again in a tough campaign.
Sigurdsson’s form in particular has been incredible, scoring nine goals and assisting 13 as he played in every single Premier League game for Paul Clement’s side.

His impressive season has attracted interest from the likes of Everton and former club Tottenham Hotspur, but owner Steve Kaplan is defiant about letting their star man go.
In an interview with Wales Online, Kaplan said: “There’s been interest in him before – there were some pretty big enquiries about him last summer and in the January window – but we didn’t want to sell him then and we don’t want to sell him now.
“And neither do we need to sell him. He has three years on his contract and he’s part of our plans going forward under Paul Clement.”
“Our aims are to make sure that we build on the successful end to the season and that doesn’t include selling out best players.”

Keeping hold of their star man could be the biggest statement of intent the Swansea City board could make to show they want the club to move forward and make progress.
The club have fallen below the standards they set for themselves in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons, where they finished ninth and eighth respectively.
Their survival in the Premier League this season, coupled with maintaining the services of Iceland international Sigurdsson, could pave the way for a return to those successful ways as they now have the opportunity to bolster their squad ahead of next season.
