Jannik Sinner has capped off a dominant month by winning both Indian Wells and the Miami Open.
Sinner’s triumph puts him among elite company, as just the eighth player to complete the ‘Sunshine Double’.
At both Masters 1000 events, Sinner was head and shoulders above his opponents, taking home the titles without dropping a single set.
Former ATP pro Steve Johnson has called Sinner’s achievement ‘incomprehensible’, underscoring just how rare this level of dominance is at this stage of the season.
Steve Johnson calls Jannik Sinner’s form ‘absolutely insane’

On the latest episode of Nothing Major, Johnson spoke about Sinner’s strong start to the season and his incredible March.
“It cannot go understated his dominance the last month,” said Johnson. “34 straight sets, whatever the number is. That is absolutely insane.”
“To not have a single lapse in focus, not drop a set due to a bad service game or a couple of loose points in a tiebreaker… it’s remarkable.”
“It is absolutely insane, the level that he is able to get to. I think it was really impressive. There are really no other words to say.”
Sinner has also benefitted from Alcaraz pulling out of the Miami Open before their semi-final clash.
Sinner didn’t lose a set on his way through Indian Wells and Miami, which Johnson still feels deserves plenty of credit.
“Sinner, from start to finish, from Indian Wells to Miami now,” he said.
“I can’t say I have never seen anything like it, but to go through the Sunshine Double, to be only the eighth man to do it, and to do it without losing a set is incomprehensible to some degree.”
Jannik Sinner narrows the gap to Carlos Alcaraz in Masters 1000 titles
At the close of the Cincinnati Open last year, Alcaraz held an 8-5 advantage over Sinner in Masters 1000 wins.
Seven months later, that lead has been trimmed to just one, with Sinner closing in fast.
Sinner will be looking to draw level when the tour heads to Monte-Carlo next month for their return to Masters 1000 play.
Sinner didn’t play last year’s event due to a suspension, while Alcaraz went on to claim his first title there.
This time, assuming both are fit, they’ll enter as the top seeds and clear favourites.
The clay-court season is always unpredictable, but this is one matchup you’ll want to keep an eye on. The 2026 Monte-Carlo Masters kicks off on Monday, April 6th.
