Steve Howey has shared a very interesting stat about Newcastle United on social networking site Twitter.

The former Newcastle defender has highlighted the Magpies’ net spend since the summer of 2017, and has compared it to that of Brighton and Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town.

The 46-year-old former England international defender has also defended Newcastle fans for complaining about lack of spending.

Newcastle do not spend a lot of money in transfer windows, and the Magpies did not splash too much cash this summer either.

Rafael Benitez is a very good manager, and the Spaniard understands his budget and the restrictions he has at Newcastle.

The Magpies’ main objective this season is to avoid relegation to the Championship, but Newcastle need to start looking ahead to and planning for the future.

Newcastle are a massive club and get 50,000 or so fans for their home matches, and it is time that they start planning for the next few years and how to make themselves regular in the top 10 of the Premier League.

Benitez’s side are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment.
