Would Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud be a good signing for Newcastle United in the January transfer window?

Newcastle are struggling to score goals regularly in the Premier League at the moment and need to sign a proven goalscorer in the January transfer window.
According to Betvictor.com, the odds of the Magpies recruiting Giroud from Arsenal in January are 10/1.
Everton are the favourites to sign the 31-year-old France international striker with odds of 6/1.
Former Newcastle and Manchester City defender Howey, 46, has suggested that Giroud would not like playing for Newcastle due to the cold weather there.

Howey told AskFans: “Forward wise, Daniel Sturridge has been mentioned, Torres has been mentioned who obviously has the connection with Benitez.
“I’m not too sure someone like Giroud would like it up there, it’s probably a bit too cold for him to be honest!”

Giroud is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League and would be a great signing for Newcastle.
However, it is hard to envisage the Frenchman, who won the Ligue 1 title with Montpellier in the 2011-12 season, leave Champions League-chasing Arsenal for relegation-battling Newcastle in the January transfer window.
Newcastle will take on Swansea City at St. James’ Park in the Premier League this afternoon.
