Leeds United are yet to be active in the emergency loan market.
Steve Evans has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Leeds United will only make loan signings if they have the option of converting the deals to permanent ones.
Leeds had been tipped to be active in the emergency loan window, after failing to secure many of their January targets.
However, the Whites are yet to make a signing, despite the loan window being open for over a week, and Evans suggests that he won’t dip into the transfer market unless he can seal a good deal for his side.
“What I said before is still the case – if we can get a player we want with a view to a permanent deal then we’d do that but we’re not going to bring someone in for literally three or four weeks,” he said.
“That would be pointless. It doesn’t help us build for next season.”
Leeds were thought to be on the verge of completing a deal for Kyle Lafferty from Norwich City (Yorkshire Evening Post), but no switch has been confirmed yet.
The Whites, instead, have been inactive and rumours of potential signings seem to have calmed down.
Leeds’ position in the Championship table may have something to do with their lack of spending, given that they seem unlikely to break into the top-six, or face a relegation fight.
Evans has only made three signings since taking over at Elland Road – bringing in Toumani Diagouraga on a permanent transfer, and Mustapha Carayol and Liam Bridcutt on loan.
