Should Leeds United and Newcastle United make moves for Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes in the January transfer window?

Steve Evans suggested on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, November 25, 2016) that Leeds United and Newcastle United should make moves for Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes in the January transfer window
Rhodes is struggling for playing time at Middlesbrough, who won promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of last season.
The 26-year-old striker has been able to play just four times in the league so far this campaign, creating two chances in the process.
The former Ipswich Town man has proved himself in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers.
Former Leeds and Rotherham United manager Evans has suggested that the Whites and Newcastle should make moves for the Scotland international in January.
“I think they need another player or two who are absolute top class across the middle four, and I think there is no doubt, despite how much I love Chris Wood, they need a goalscorer,” said Evans on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, November 25, 2016).
“There’s a boy Jordan Rhodes up at Middlesbrough who is not getting in, and I would be absolutely gobsmacked if he is not on the radar of every club in the Championship, probably Newcastle.”

Rhodes may be struggling for playing time in the Premier League, but the striker would be a good signing for any club in the Championship.
Newcastle are going strong and look set to win the division, and signing the Scotsman is only going to enhance their chances of doing so.
Leeds are genuine playoff contenders, and adding Rhodes to the squad is certainly going to make Garry Monk’s side a better team.
