Gillingham boss Steve Evans has told Kent Online that Celtic are keeping close tabs on ‘wonderful’ midfielder Scott Robertson.
19-year-old Robertson has come up through the Celtic ranks, and was given his senior debut aged just 18 against CFR Cluj last season.
The midfielder seems to be highly rated by Neil Lennon, but was loaned out to Gillingham in September in pursuit of first-team football.
Robertson has now played 10 games for Gillingham, registering one assist for the Gills, but he was left out of the squad against AFC Wimbledon last night.
Evans’ side claimed a 2-1 win anyway, but some were wondering where Robertson was having played an hour against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
Now, Evans has admitted that he was worried about Robertson picking up an injury, and will explain that decision to the teenager.

Evans added that he thinks Robertson is a ‘wonderful talent’, and Celtic are delighted with his progress having sent staff to watch him in action for the League One side.
“He is fine,” said Evans. “He gave us 60 minutes on Saturday after being out a month with a hamstring. The last time we gave him back to back games he niggled his hamstring again and we didn’t want to take that chance. It was purely my decision.”
“He is simply a wonderful talent. He will have gone away to his apartment really down and devastated but I will contact him to say what the reason was. I spoke to the people at Celtic and they think he is being educated here, they have sent people to watch him and I talked to them because I said I wasn’t going to include him, they are delighted with his progress,” he added.
