Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to replace Walter Zenga, who was sacked last week.

He was appearing on Sky Sports News HQ today (03/11/16) when he confirmed that he had a brief conversation with Wolves head of football development and recruitment Kevin Thelwell, but he backed one of the three leading candidates to thrive at Molineux:
“(I) just (had) the briefest of chats with Kevin Thelwell.

“But when you look at the quality of the names that you’ve just mentioned. Nigel (Pearson), Paul Lambert and Tim Sherwood are obviously three gentlemen I know very well and in my opinion Wolverhampton Wanderers are talking to three guys and any one of them could do the job to the top of their abilities.”
Wolves are believed to be holding a second interview with former Derby County boss Nigel Pearson at some point this week and both Lambert and Sherwood remain on the shortlist for the role as well.

Evans remains out of work following his departure from Leeds United in the summer, with whom he did a good job under difficult circumstances.
He would have been a decent appointment by Wolves but fans at the club will no doubt have more hope over what appears to be the lead trio in the hunt for the job.
Wolves take on Pearson’s former side Derby County in the Championship this weekend.
