Former Leeds United and Rotherham United boss Steve Evans was recently appointed the Peterborough United manager, but the Scotsman already has an eye on the Celtic job.

Evans, who achieved considerable success at Rotherham before moving onto Leeds in the Championship, recently left League Two outfit Mansfield Town for League One club Peterborough in England.

The 55-year-old former Albion Rovers and Ayr United striker will be aiming to guide The Posh to promotion, but the Scotsman seems to have an eye on the Celtic in the coming years.

Evans told BBC Sport: “I want to do well enough here that Dermot Desmond of Celtic picks up the telephone in two or three years and says Brendan Rodgers is off to somewhere in the Premier League, would you come and be our manager?

“Peterborough United doing well in the Championship gives me a chance doesn’t it?”

Fans of various clubs, including Celtic, have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to Evans’s comments.

Former Liverpool and Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers is in charge of Celtic at the moment.

Rodgers is doing a wonderful job at the Glasgow giants, who could well end up winning the domestic treble in Scotland for the second season in a row.
