Steve Evans has told Radio Yorkshire that every transfer target he had for Leeds United this summer was a Premier League player.
Evans had already drawn up a list of potential additions for the Whites, and he presented his plans to Massimo Cellino.
However, the 53-year-old was dismissed by Leeds earlier this week, after months of uncertainty around his job.
Evans is now out of work, but he has suggested that he had held discussions with Premier League players about joining Leeds, and they were all interested.
“It was all players from the level above. It was players that had intimated to me that wanted to, at least, have a discussion with Leeds and for the first time in years had seen some stability at the club,” Evans said, when asked what sort of transfer targets that he had drawn up.
Evans was restricted with the business he was able to do at Leeds last January, and he only made three signings during his time at Elland Road.
Leeds brought in Toumani Diagouraga on a permanent transfer, while Liam Bridcutt and Mustapha Carayol arrived on loan during Evans’ time with the Yorkshire club.
Bridcutt, who currently plays for Sunderland, is believed to be one of the Premier League players who Evans was trying to bring back to Leeds this summer.
Former Swansea City boss Garry Monk is reportedly set to take over from Evans at Leeds.
