Steve Clarke suggests whether Jordan Jones could play against Rangers

Glasgow Rangers have already agreed a pre-contract deal and the winger will move to Ibrox in the summer.

In comments reported by STV, Steve Clarke has insisted that Jordan Jones will play against Rangers if he is fit, despite the winger agreeing a pre-contract move to Ibrox for the summer.

Jones has incurred the wrath of the Kilmarnock fans by signing terms with Rangers ahead of the end of the season when his deal at Rugby Park expires.

The situation will see an interesting chapter written this week when Steven Gerrard’s men visit Killie in a game that pits two of the Scottish Premiership’s top three against each other. And while some Kilmarnock fans will not want to see the Rangers-bound winger involved, Clarke has suggested that he has no qualms about picking Jones.

“No doubt, if Jordan is fit and ready to go then that is what we’ll do,” he said, as reported by STV.

“He’s a Kilmarnock player, he has sorted his future out, which is good for him.

“I think he’s a good player, an important player for my team, if I decide he is going to start on Wednesday then he’ll start.”

Jones is in a difficult position. He will argue that his focus is solely on Kilmarnock until the summer, and thus, he will be determined to do everything he can to help Clarke’s men upset the Old Firm in the title race.

Gerrard’s priority will be to see Rangers win and send out a statement to their rivals – especially after their Scottish Cup tie was postponed last week – but if Jones manages to impress as well, that would certainly be a small bonus.
