Connor Goldson escaped a red card for Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers on Saturday, says Steve Clarke.
Steve Clarke has told The Scottish Sun that he believes Rangers defender Connor Goldson should have seen red in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Ibrox.
Goldson, a £3 million signing by Rangers last summer [The Record], was booked in the closing minutes by referee Greg Aitken after tackling Liam Millar.
It was a tactical foul by the Gers centre-back, with Millar in a promising position, and Killie boss Clarke suggested to The Scottish Sun that the big man could’ve gone.
He said: “The referee ran the game as he saw fit and if there was going to be a red card it would have been for Rangers.
“If it was going to happen it would have been for the tackle by Goldson on Millar.
“He was going through on goal and had a chance to get a shot away. But the ref chose to give yellow and we accept that.”
Conor McAleny, a first-half substitute, fired Clarke’s side ahead on the half-hour mark, but a tidy finish from Alfredo Morelos on 64 minutes salvaged a point for Steven Gerrard’s troops.
But the damage might already be done.
Rangers, who were knocked out of the Scottish Cup at the quarter-final stage in midweek, will be 10 points behind Celtic in the Premiership if their Old Firm rivals win at Dundee today.
