Albion were in the play offs at the time Moore depart, but West Brom’s board decided a change of direction was needed.
And Clarke feels that West Brom were too hasty in getting rid of Moore, as they were with him.
“I feel I did a good job at West Brom. It was cut short abruptly, which is something historically that West Brom have done – as you’ve recently seen with Darren Moore,” he said.
“That was a very strange decision and ruthless at that stage of the season. Maybe the old chairman [Jeremy Peace] has left a legacy there which has been acted upon.”
West Brom’s form since Moore’s departure has been very strong, and they have pushed themselves back into the race for automatic promotion.
The Baggies current have James Shan in caretaker charge for the ‘foreseeable future’.
West Brom are currently in fourth place in the Championship table, six points away from the top two.
The Midlands side are next in action at the weekend when they take on Millwall.
