Everton’s poor form continued as they lost to Arsenal this weekend.

BBC pundit Steve Claridge has commented on the prospect of Everton going down this season, and it is not encouraging news for Toffees fans after they saw their side lose yet again this weekend.

Everton lost 5-2 at home to Arsenal on Sunday as their terrible start to the campaign continued, and Ronald Koeman is clearly not getting enough from the players he signed in a considerable overhaul during the summer.

Arsenal's Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey (L) scores their fourth goal during the English Premier League football match between Everton and Arsenal at Goodison Park in Liverpool, north west...

“Do you worry about Everton going down?” Claridge said. “I haven’t seen three worse teams.

“I don’t understand what Everton are trying to do. There are a lot of good players but no structure, no system to speak of. It is not enough to just get men behind the ball.”

Everton headed into this season in confident mood with some big-name signings and the return of Wayne Rooney.

Wayne Rooney of Everton gives his team instruction during the Premier League match between Everton and Arsenal at Goodison Park on October 22, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

The former England international opened the scoring for the hosts against the Gunners and it was a timely boost for an Everton team desperate for a victory. However, that proved to be a mere consolation with Arsenal scoring four times courtesy of Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey.

A late goal from Oumar Niasse did nothing to ease the gloom at Goodison Park, with Alexis Sanchez having the last laugh, and one wonders if Claridge will be proved right.

There are certainly few sides performing as badly as Everton are right now, and only some significant changes will turn things round before it is too late.
