Wolverhampton Wanderers will head to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa on March 10th.
When writing his regular column for the Express & Star, Wolves legend Steve Bull described what will be the perfect scenario for his former club, ahead of their huge clash with Aston Villa on March 10th.
The Black Country outfit have been superb this season, but they are currently in the midst of their first real sticky patch of their campaign thus far, having drawn two and lost one of their last three league outings.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men still sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, though, six points clear of second placed Cardiff City, and a further four ahead of third placed Villa.
The Midlands rivals are due to face off in 10 days time, and the outcome of the game at Villa Park will have huge ramifications on the promotion race.
Bull, who scored 306 goals for Wolves, explained how vitally important it will be for his former side to win both games leading up to their clash with Steve Bruce’s men, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star:
“There’s also the small matter of a big derby at Villa on the horizon next weekend and we’ve got to look at our next two games as a big opportunity to go there with at least that 10-point gap intact. Or the dream scenario is winning out next two and they lost a couple and all of sudden it’s 16 points. Staying positive is important as Wolves are in an absolutely fantastic position and despite a run of two points in three games that shouldn’t be forgotten.”
Wolves face games against Reading and Leeds United before they take on Villa, and six points from those outings would set them up perfectly for the challenge they will face at Villa Park.
