The Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper has performed admirably this season.
Wolves legend Steve Bull offered high words of praise for John Ruddy, when writing a column for the Express & Star, highlighting just how important he has been to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this season.
The Black Country outfit now sit nine points clear of second placed Cardiff City after last night’s dramatic win in Wales, and the 31-year-old played a huge role in his side’s victory, saving a stoppage time penalty.
Ruddy joined Wolves from Norwich City in the summer of 2017 on a free transfer, and many people questioned the wisdom behind bringing him to Molineux.
The one-capped England international has proven his critics wrong, though, and despite a couple of shaky displays, he has been a real asset for Nuno’s side.
Bull, who scored a club record 306 goals for Wolves, lavished praise upon the goalkeeper, when writing a column for the Express & Star, highlighting how he has proved his doubters wrong:
“A few people questioned John Ruddy being in the team I think he’s had a very good season. He’s been an ever present and been very solid until perhaps the past few weeks where he’s started having the odd fumble and misjudging a couple of crosses, which may be a confidence issue. He’s been promoted twice with Norwich before so let’s make sure he gets his hat-trick.”
Wolves need just nine more points to guarantee promotion back to the Premier League, and with Ruddy between the sticks, they will be more than confident in their chances of doing just that.
