Wolves legend Steve Bull raved about the quality of Matt Doherty, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star, and claimed that he would put the 26-year-old in his all-time Wolves XI.

The Black Country outfit have enjoyed a successful Championship campaign thus far, and currently sit comfortably at the top of the pile, with Doherty playing a key role for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, chipping in with four goals and three assists from 37 league outings – all from the right wing-back position.

Doherty began his career at Molineux in 2010, and has spent two separate loan spells away from the club during his eight year spell with the Black Country outfit.

The Irishman’s energy up and down the right flank has proven to be crucial to the manner in which Wolves play this season, and Bull raved about Doherty’s quality, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star:

“Matt Doherty was brilliant. If I had to select a Wolves XI I’d have him in my team all day long. He keeps wide, wins every header, plays it around. He has got 13 goals for Wolves now which is scary for a right-back. He has got his head down, rolled his sleeves up and is giving it a good go.”

Wolves face Burton Albion at Molineux on Saturday, and another three points there would put them in an extremely strong position from which to achieve automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
