Steve Bull is confident that Wolverhampton Wanderers will sign a striker in January.
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers player and club legend Steve Bull is confident that the Championship club will sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
Wolves were looking to sign a top-quality striker in the summer transfer window, but they failed to bolster that area of the pitch.
Bull is impressed with Leo Bonatini, one of the new summer signings who joined on loan from Al-Hilal.
He has hailed the Brazilian as a “grafter”, and believes that the 23-year-old will get goals.
“Of course you can’t just sign players for the sake of it. I also really like Léo Bonatini. He’s a grafter, he’s got a great touch and I think he will get goals,” said Bull to Express and Star.
But after him we are looking a bit light. Michał Zyro and young Donovan Wilson and the strikers in reserve.
Bull is concerned that Wolves do not have sufficient backup after Bonatini, and the likes of Michał Zyro and young Donovan Wilson will have to step up.
He adds that Wilson is a “very bright talent”, and he expects him to seize the chance.
“Wilson is also a very bright talent and is well thought of at the club. I hope they seize their chance.
“Personally though I think we are quite lucky Nuno only really plays one up top, with two wide men either side.”
Nuno Espirito Santo usually plays with a lone striker system, and Bull hopes that Wolves have enough quality to stay in the mix for promotion race till January.
He says that Nuno has done a brilliant job in getting the players he wanted. He adds that Wolves are going to get better as the season progresses.
“And I’m sure it won’ be long into January that we do see a new striker arrive.”
