The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker is still yet to score a goal after making his loan switch from Bournemouth last month.
Wolves legend Steve Bull predicted that Benik Afobe will go on a run and start scoring regularly sooner rather than later, when writing a column for the Express & Star, and offered some advice for the 25-year-old.
Afobe joined Wolves from Bournemouth in January, on a loan deal for the rest of the season, but he is still yet to find the net in three outings thus far for the Black Country outfit.
The striker enjoyed a successful spell with Wolves in 2016, scoring 22 goals in 46 Championship outings, but there is far more competition for places in the forward department at Molineux this time around.
Bull, who scored a record 306 goals for Wolves, urged Afobe not to try too hard, and predicted that the goals will begin to flow for the striker, when writing a column for the Express & Star:
“Benik Afobe is the wildcard on the bench and all I’d say to Benik is ‘stop trying too hard’. He’s getting in the right positions and those goals will come soon enough. In fact I think when he gets one he’ll go on a run.”
In all fairness to Afobe, it has been hard for him to find any kind of rhythm since making his switch to Molineux last month.
He has played just 66 minutes for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side thus far, and if he is to start scoring regularly, he will surely need to be given a consistent run of starts by the Portuguese.
With the likes of Ivan Cavaleiro, Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota currently ahead of him in the pecking order, however, that will be easier said than done.
