The Portuguese ace is one of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ prized assets.
Wolves legend Steve Bull admitted that he is concerned at the prospect of losing Helder Costa to one of the big boys this summer, when writing his column for the Express & Star.
The Black Country outfit have been magnificent this season, and the Portuguese winger has certainly played his part, chipping in with five goals and six assists in 34 Champions outings.
Costa joined Wolves from Monaco originally on loan in the summer of 2016, before making his switch to Molineux a permanent one in January 2017, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £13 million.
Bull, who is Wolves’ all-time record goalscorer, raved about the quality of the 24-year-old, when writing his column for the Express & Star, whilst admitting that the prospect of one of the big clubs coming in for him this summer does concern him:
“Helder Costa is playing well and looking back to his best, all day long. When someone gets injured, it takes about six months to be brought back to full fitness. Now Costa is looking absolutely top drawer and he will be great in the Premier League. Does is concern me that big clubs could come in for some of our best players? It does in a way. I think we need to keep our best players – otherwise it is one step forward and two back.”
Costa has been heavily linked with a move away from Molineux over this past year, with the Sunday People claiming that Southampton and Monaco have both shown interest in signing him.
Following Wolves’ excellent season, though, there is every chance that Costa will want to stick around, and prove his worth in the Premier League with Nuno’s side.
