Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce worked with Ahmed Elmohamady at Sunderland, Hull City and Aston Villa.

According to The Sun, Newcastle United are interested in signing Ahmed Elmohamady from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
Newcastle manager Steve Bruce worked with Ahmed Elmohamady at Villa, Sunderland and Hull City, and the former Sheffield Wednesday boss reportedly wants to bring the 31-year-old right-back to St. James’ Park this summer.
The Egypt international has been on the books of Villa since 2017, and he has been a regular in the first team.
Newcastle manager Bruce is a big fan of the right-back, and back in October 2017, he raved about him and explained his decision to bring the defender to Villa Park in the summer of 2017.
Bruce told The Birmingham Mail about Elmohamady in October 2017: “He is a delight, a manager’s dream. You know, in seven years I cannot remember him missing a match for me.
“In all that time I can count on the fingers of one hand how many days training he has missed. He doesn’t go into the gym either. So for me, he’s a great pro and a delight to work with.”

Stats
Elmohamady made 35 starts and six substitute appearances in the Championship for Villa last season, scoring two goals and providing eight assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
During the 2017-18 campaign, the Egypt international winger made 38 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Championship for the Villans, providing five assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
