The Aston Villa manager has endured tough times during his spell in charge at the club.

Villa boss Steve Bruce sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official YouTube account, and admitted that he was hoping for a call from a Premier League club when he was out of work, before he was offered the post at Villa Park.
The Villans have not had things all their own way in the Championship this season, and despite being amongst the favourites for promotion to the Premier League, they have really struggled, currently languishing in mid-table.
They do still have faint hopes of making the play-off spots, however, as far fetched as that may seem.
With eight games still remaining, 11 points separate themselves and sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday, but with back-to-back home games against Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers respectively next up on the agenda for Villa, that gap could very well be considerably less come this time next week.
And Bruce spoke to the club’s official YouTube account about the time he spent out of work, and his reaction when he got the call from Aston Villa regarding the then vacant manager’s post:

“It’s Aston Villa, it’s a no-brainer. I was hoping that I would get a phone-call from a Premier League club, but when Aston Villa called, in my eyes, they are a Premier League club, and hopefully we will get there eventually. I had no hesitation, because of the stature and the nature of the club, and I hope I can be the one who can put it back on its’ feet.”
If Villa fail to achieve promotion this term, the summer transfer window will be a vitally important one for Steve Bruce.
There are too many players currently amongst the squad who are quite simply not good enough, so expect to see plenty of ins and outs at Villa Park throughout the course of the summer.
