Newcastle United have agreed to sign Isaac Hayden on a five-year deal from Arsenal.
Hull City manager Steve Bruce’s comments to Sky Sports about Isaac Hayden should excite Newcastle United supporters.
Hayden spent time on loan at Hull in the Championship last season, and his performances at the KC Stadium impressed.
The youngster made over 20 appearances for the Tigers, and Bruce admitted that he wanted to make the transfer permanent, as he had been so impressed by the midfielder.
“I’ve already been on to Arsenal because I’d love to make it permanent if I could,” Bruce said, back in January.
“I’d make it permanent tomorrow if that was possible. I desperately want to hang on to him. In an ideal world he’d want to be playing every week but he’s started last weekend and again.
“He’s a very good young player, who’s progressing all the time.”
Unfortunately for Hull, Bruce was unable to agree a permanent deal for Hayden, who returned to Arsenal this summer.
Newcastle then pounced to bring the 20-year-old in, and made him their fifth signing of the summer.
Hayden remains a rather unknown quantity, but the praise he has received from Bruce suggests that he could make a big impact at St. James’ Park in the upcoming season.
Newcastle are currently the favourites for promotion, and they will be hoping all their signings can hit the ground running, as they aim to live up to expectations.
