New Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has told the club’s official website that hard work is the main thing he will demand from the club’s players.
Bruce was appointed as the new Villa manager this week following Roberto di Matteo’s sacking.
There is great hope about the appointment, with many hoping he can help turn around their poor start to the campaign.
He has inherited a squad full of quality from his predecessor who spent heavily in the summer transfer window to try and ensure an immediate return to the Premier League this season.

Bruce is not interested in quality, though, instead insisting that hard work will be chief among his demands.
“You only have to look at the squad – and the investment that the club has made – to realise we have a good group of players for the Championship,” he told the club’s official website.
“I have made my career out of one thing really and managed to get to the top – that’s basically hard work. You have to be able to work hard for me. That’s what I demand.”

It remains to be seen if Bruce can help to turn around Aston Villa’s fortunes in the coming months.
Their minimum aim will likely be trying to secure a playoff spot but that will take a drastic improvement in their form between now and the end of the season.
They are already ten points behind Bristol City and Birmingham and based on last season they will need another 64 points from their remaining games to finish in that final playoff spot.
