Sam Johnstone joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Johnstone joined Championship club Villa on a season-long loan deal from Premier League giants Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper spent the second half of the 2016-17 campaign on loan at the Villans.

The former England Under-20 international has established himself as an important player for Villa, and manager Bruce wants to secure the services of the custodian on a permanent deal in the January transfer window.
“It would be great to keep him here for the next few years as Villa’s No.1,” Bruce told Express & Star about signing Johnstone.
“I will need to ask the question,” added Bruce. “The ideal move for us would be to buy him in January.”

Johnstone is a good goalkeeper, but time is running out for him at the age of 24 to play for the Manchester United first team.
David de Gea is the first-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford and is one of the best players in his position in the world.
It would make sense for Johnstone to leave United on a permanent basis and move to Villa.
