Aston Villa may be interested in signing Norwich City’s Robbie Brady, according to manager Steve Bruce.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has told the Daily Mail that he would be interested in Norwich City’s Robbie Brady should he become available.

Villa lost 1-0 away at Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening, in a result which leaves Villa a whopping ten points off the Championship play-off places.

Manager Bruce may now feel that a top six finish is fading fast, but he will still be keen to add new faces to his squad to give his side a chance of reaching the play-offs.

Manchester United’s young goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has already arrived on loan until the end of the season, but Bruce will be keen on more new signings – and a natural left winger should be a priority.

Villa have shoehorned the likes of Jordan Ayew, Jack Grealish and Leandro Bacuna onto the left of midfield this season, and Bruce should be looking for a more natural option.

Bruce told the Daily Mail that he missed out on a deal to sign Jeffrey Schlupp, who joined Crystal Palace on Friday, but did hint at interest in another player.

Norwich City’s Robbie Brady has been linked with a move away from Carrow Road, with The Mirror claiming that the Canaries have valued him at £12million – and the Daily Mail even suggested earlier this week that talks over a swap deal to send Brady to Villa in exchange for Ross McCormack had broken down.

Now, Bruce has raved about Brady having worked with him at Hull City, and hinted that Villa would be keen to sign the Irish international if he became available during this month’s transfer window.

“I took him on loan from Man United to Hull – signed him and really liked him,” he added. “We paid £2.5million back in the day. He’d be a little bit more that that now. If he became available now we might be interested,” he added.
