Jonathan Kodjia missed Aston Villa’s most recent Championship clash due to injury, but could be back for their next game.

Kodjia had to be taken off during the latter stages of the Second City derby with Birmingham at the weekend due to an injury on the ankle that has only just recovered after the break he suffered at the end of last season.

But ahead of their clash with the Owls at Villa Park this weekend, Bruce has suggested that the 28-year-old could be back after sitting out the game against Preston North End in midweek.

“I would suggest he is less than 50-50 because he was a bit sore. But the scans are OK, the X-Ray is OK.”
The news that Kodjia could be back will undoubtedly provide a boost for the Villans as they look to go into the international break in a strong position after a brilliant run of form.
Bruce’s men have suffered just one league defeat since August and are now up to fifth in the Championship table. But while Wednesday are in mid-table, Carlos Carvalhal’s side are almost always a tough nut to crack and will surely be in a much better position come the business end of the campaign.
So having a player of Kodjia’s calibre in the ranks for the weekend would unquestionably provide the side with a huge lift and would definitely boost their chances of maintaining their current momentum heading into the break.
