Aston Villa have been much improved with Glenn Whelan out of their team recently.

Steve Bruce has all the proof he needs that he should give Glenn Whelan a spell on the sidelines at Aston Villa, after his side’s performances in their last two outings.
Whelan has been a regular in Villa’s team this season, but he has failed to impress since signing from Stoke City.

The Republic of Ireland international has looked off the pace, and hasn’t offered Bruce’s side much in an offensive sense.
Whelan has now missed Villa’s last two matches, and the difference in their performances has been noticeable.

With Whelan sidelined, the claret and blues first picked up an impressive 1-0 win against promotion chasing Middlesbrough, before they demolished Bristol City 5-0 on New Year’s Day.
With an attacking line-up named, Villa looked free-flowing and dangerous and Bruce should now have seen all the evidence that he needs to take the hand break off his side, and leave Whelan out of his starting line-up.
