Aston Villa were held to a 0-0 draw by Hull City yesterday.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing 0-0 draw away at Hull City yesterday, and shared what really disappointed him about the performance from his players at the KCOM Stadium, as quoted by the Express & Star.

The Villans’ hopes of automatic promotion are now all but over, with nine points separating them and second placed Cardiff City, who have played a game less than Bruce’s side.

Villa have taken just one point from their last three games against Queens Park Rangers, Bolton Wanderers and Hull City respectively, and at this stage of the season, that is quite simply not good enough.

Bruce spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s draw at Hull yesterday, and shared what disappointed him about their performance, as quoted by the Express & Star:

Steve Bruce manager of Aston Villa looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Birmingham City and Aston Villa at St Andrews on October 29, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

“It’s one of those frustrating evenings. I’m disappointed because we haven’t done enough in the second half. If we’re going to be brutally honest with each other, we have to have a bit more than we had in the second half at this stage of the season, that’s for sure.”

With just seven league games remaining for Villa, it could be argued that they have to win every single one of those matches, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of finishing inside the top two this term.

Perhaps their priority will be to finish inside the top six now, though, with eight points separating themselves and seventh placed Bristol City.
