Aston Villa were comfortable winners against Sunderland last night.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s superb 3-0 away win at Sunderland last night, but stopped short of offering praise for his side, suggesting that they were nowhere near their best, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The west Midlands outfit cemented their place in third position with last night’s win, and they now sit just seven points adrift of league leaders Wolves, although Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have the chance to extend that lead when they play Leeds United at Elland Road tonight.
The Villans have strung together a superb set of results over the past few months, having won nine out of their last 11 Championship games, and they are finding form at just the right time.
Bruce addressed the media last night, and highlighted what disappointed him about his side’s display at the Stadium of light, despite their comfortable victory, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“We didn’t play well. We were nowhere near where we have been playing. We were sloppy and gave the ball away too cheaply. The first goal was always going to be big.”
Next up for Villa is their huge clash with Wolves on Saturday evening, and a win at Villa Park really will have their fans believing that this is their year.
