Steve Bruce shares what he’s been told by new owners about their plans for Aston Villa

Aston Villa got their season off to a winning start last night, with Steve Bruce helping his side to victory.

Steve Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that he feels very comfortable in his role as Aston Villa manager.

Bruce’s future at Villa was heavily speculated about, after new owners arrived this summer, with Thierry Henry linked to the job.

But Bruce says that he has been told he is a big part of Villa’s new owner’s plans for the club.

“I’ve been assured by the owners that they want to take their time,” he said.

“They’ve got a plan that they want to stick to and that includes me so I’m very comfortable.”

Bruce may feel as if he has the owner’s backing, but he is under pressure to ensure results are positive, to keep the fans on side.

There was a section of Villa fans who feel that a change was required, after the claret and blues failed to earn promotion last term.

Bruce’s side got off to a winning start to the new campaign last night, when they beat Hull City 3-1.

Villa had fallen behind in the contest, but goals from Tommy Elphick, Ahmed Elmohamady and Alan Hutton ensured that the three points would return to the Midlands.
