Aston Villa drew 2-2 with Brentford in the Championship last night.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s 2-2 draw with Brentford yesterday, and shared what he asked of his players before they took to the field of play, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The Villans have begun their 2018/19 campaign in solid fashion, winning two and drawing two of their opening four league games, and they currently sit in fifth position in the Championship table.

Things could have been so different against the Bees last night, though.

Aston Villa were quite simply sensational from the very first whistle, and fully deserved to win the game.

Bruce sat down for his post-match press conference, and shared what he asked of his players in the build up to last night’s game, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“We played very, very well. Sometimes you just have to look past the result and say ‘that’s the way we want to go about it, that’s the way we want to play’. I asked for that bit more energy and zip about us, and I got it. The way we moved the ball and got after it was much better. In all aspects, it’s just what we’re looking for.”

Despite the fact that Villa played well, they still failed to win the game, and that could come back to bite them come what May.

Next up for the west Midlands outfit is a home game against Reading on Saturday, and Bruce’s side will be confident in their chances of taking all three points from the contest.
