Aston Villa have been busy during this month’s transfer window.
Speaking to reporters during his pre-match press conference, Villa boss Steve Bruce shared his delight after making the signings that he feels were vital to his side’s hopes of progression, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
The Villans secured the signings of midfield trio Conor Hourihane, Birkir Bjarnason and Henri Lansbury over this past week or so, along with the acquisition of defender James Bree.

And Bruce explained to the media how the midfield department at Villa was an area that seriously needed addressing, and that with the signings he has made, he can now take the club in the direction in which he wants, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:

“I thought it was important that we brought something different to the midfield area. In the three of them they’ve all got different strengths so I hope that the blend of the three of them will give us what we’re looking for. The goals that we need, that bit of creativity if they can. I think that’s always vitally important. In Lansbury and Birkir and Conor they give us a different look in the midfield area which I think needed to be addressed, so they’ve got a little bit of the lot in there.”

Villa currently sit in 13th position in the Championship table, nine points adrift of sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday, and their fans will be hoping that their new signings will give the side just the boost they need to embark on a sustained run of victories, and force their way inside the play-off spots.
