Aston Villa have gone unbeaten under the stewardship of Steve Bruce so far.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that putting his side’s best players in their correct positions has helped improve their form.
Villa have taken 11 points from 15 available to them since Bruce took charge at Villa Park.
And Bruce suggests that Villa’s change in fortunes has owed largely to simple alterations he has made since taking over from Roberto Di Matteo.
“We’ve been able to put our best players in our best positions,” he said. “I think the response has been from the players, they needed a bit of belief and confidence. Also a bit of hard work which never goes amiss.”
Di Matteo was regularly criticised for seemingly playing certain members of his first team squad out of position during his time at Villa.
The Italian boss had a desire to get as many attackers on the pitch as possible, but Villa often looked disjointed as a result.
Under Bruce, the Midlands side have looked far more solid, but they were made to work for the three points in their latest outing against Blackburn Rovers.
Villa went behind against Owen Coyle’s side, but they showed their fighting spirit to score twice in the second half and claim the three points.
Villa are now in 14th place in the Championship table, with their next match coming against Brighton & Hove Albion after the international break.
